Why MeowScout exists
Finding the cat world near you shouldn't take an afternoon of digging. Cat cafés, rescues and cat events are scattered across Instagram, Facebook groups, Reddit threads, event sites, outdated listicles and each venue's own website. There's no one place to see the cafés near you, the rescues that need you, or what's on this weekend.
MeowScout brings it all together, so every cat café visit, rescue event and volunteer hour is easy to find, and no one misses the thing that might change their life, or save one.
What you'll find here
- Cat cafés across the US, with hours, photos and directions
- Rescue organizations, from shelters and foster networks to sanctuaries, and the ways you can help them: adopting, fostering and donating
- Cat events near you, from adoption days and fundraisers to kitten yoga and cat conventions
- Places to adopt a cat near you: rescue organizations, cat cafés and in-store adoption centers
- Volunteer opportunities at rescue organizations near you
- Live cat cams from kitten nurseries, cafés, sanctuaries and foster homes
- City guides to the cat cafés, rescue organizations and ways to help in cities across the US
Our accuracy promise
We'd rather leave a detail out than guess. Listings show when their details were last checked, and every listing has a “Something wrong? Tell us” link so you can flag anything that's changed. If you run a café or rescue, you can claim your listing for free and keep it up to date yourself.
Who's behind MeowScout
MeowScout was founded by Carin Nelson, who has spent years in the cat world running Hide & Scratch, which makes cardboard cat scratchers and toys. Hide & Scratch also runs Give a Cat a Box, a program that sends scratchers and toys to cats in rescue.

Meet Scout
Scout is our resident explorer: curious, helpful and always on the trail of the next great cat spot. Keep an eye out for Scout around the site, pointing the way.
Where MeowScout is headed
Our goal is for MeowScout to be the one place to find anything and everything you need in the cat world. We're starting with the directory, and it will keep growing from here. Next come the people and places that cats and their humans rely on, like vets, behaviorists, groomers and sitters, and eventually cat-focused pet stores and independent boutiques. Down the road, there will be more ways for cat lovers to connect with each other, too.
