These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Meow Scout website at meowscout.com (the "Service"), operated by Camalia Group ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Meow Scout is a directory + community platform for the cat ecosystem (cafés, shelters, rescues, events, volunteer opportunities). The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted access; the platform may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time.
2. Accounts
You may browse the Service without an account. If you create one (Phase 4 onward), you are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to register.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Upload, post, or transmit content that is harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation.
- Attempt to access, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its underlying infrastructure.
- Use the Service to send unsolicited commercial communications.
4. User content
When you submit content to the Service (reviews, comments, photos in future phases), you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, display, and distribute that content as part of the Service. You retain ownership of your content. We may remove content at our discretion if it violates these Terms.
5. Image moderation
User-uploaded photos (Phase 4 onward) are scanned for CSAM (child sexual abuse material) via Microsoft PhotoDNA / Thorn Safer and for abuse classifiers via AWS Rekognition before being stored. We will report CSAM hits to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
6. Third-party services
The Service integrates third-party services (listed in our Privacy Policy). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms.
Parts of the Service use Google Maps features and content, including maps and Google place information such as ratings and photos. Your use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the then-current Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
Live cat cam videos are provided by YouTube. By using the Service's live cat cam features, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, including its content, features, and functionality (excluding user content), is owned by Camalia Group and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
8. Payment
The Service is currently free to use. Future paid features (premium listings, founding member perks) will be subject to additional terms presented at the point of purchase. We have no obligation to provide paid features.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these Terms. You may delete your account at any time via /account/delete (Phase 4 onward); deletion has a 14-day grace period before the cascade.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Information about cat cafés, shelters, and events is sourced from publicly available data and is subject to change. We disclaim all warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Camalia Group and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly. Total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed $100.
12. Governing law + dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration in Delaware. You waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
