Cat Shelters & Rescues in South Carolina

Animal Rescue Carolina, Inc.

Columbia, SC

We are a new organization, only recently submitting our paperwork for the Federal 501(c)3. We have all volunteered with other rescue organizations and have spent years doing personal rescues. We are completely foster-based, believing small, foster-based rescues have a place in the rescue/shelter universe. We do rescue because we can't turn our backs on the animals we come across in need.

Animal Shelter of Clarendon County

Manning, SC

ASCC d/b/a A Second Chance Animal Shelter is a no-kill, 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, located in Manning, Clarendon County, SC. Our sweet, adoptable cats and dogs are housed on site. We receive no government funding to assist with the shelter operations or staff salaries and payroll taxes. We are funded strictly by proceeds from A Second Chance Thrift Store and the kind and compassionate donations of shelter members, volunteers and friends. Mission Statement: To shelter and protect the unwanted and abandoned animals of Clarendon County, to facilitate the adoption of those animals, to promote population control through spay and neuter programs and to educate the community about the care of animals. We are always thankful for our volunteers, who help at the Thrift Store, walk and socialize dogs and cats, stuff envelopes for mail-outs, donate baked items for bake sales, and assist with other fundraisers. Volunteers may come in during office hours and fill out an application. They will then be contacted to come and attend an orientation, then "roll up their sleeves" and pitch in.

Black Tie Boston Rescue, Inc

Little River, SC

The primary mission of the BTBR is to rescue Boston Terriers, as well as small Boston Terrier mixes where resources permit, from situations of abuse or neglect or from other situation that leave the dogs without an owner, such as from owners who surrender their pets or from animal shelters and other animal welfare organizations. That is our official mission statement. In simple terms, this is a warm, loving group of volunteers that saves Boston Terriers for the love of the breed and the desire to stop the neglected, injured, or abandoned dogs from suffering.

Cullen's Archangel RescuE, Inc.

Lexington, SC

Feline Lifeline

Easley, SC

Feline Lifeline's mission is "to give homeless cats a chance," not after they are taken to a public animal shelter, but while they are still living on the streets, eating out of trash cans and surviving long enough only to produce a litter or two of kittens doomed to the same fate as their parents. Feline Lifeline helps cats living outdoors in "colonies." Most colony cats are too fearful of humans to become pets, so they are trapped and taken to a veterinarian for vaccinations, spay or neuter and treatment for fleas and worms. Other health problems are also given veterinary care. The cats that cannot be tamed are then returned to the places where they had been living, but their living areas are improved with shelters (where possible) and the cats are fed daily. Tame cats are adopted into loving homes.

Hilton Head Humane Association

Kerry A. Spitzenberger Foundation dba Kerry's Cats

Kitty Claws Rescue Group SC

We do not abort a pregnant cat - instead we foster until she's had her babies, adopti out the kittens and spay mother, ultimately returning her to the location she came from if it's a safe area. Otherwise, she will be relocated to one of our own colonies where we feed and water the cats daily.

Safe Haven 4 Cats SC

North Myrtle Beach, SC

Safe Haven 4 Cats SC is a corporate non-profit 501 (c) (3), no kill, all volunteer organization founded to “Help Stop the Endless Cycle” of unwanted cats in Horry County: feral, homeless, abandoned, abused and neglected, through no fault of their own. Adoptable cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, receive veterinary care as needed, and are nurtured until a forever and loving home is found. We advocate and support Trap-Neuter-Release Feed (TNRF) programs and work with local veterinarians to provide low spay/neuter services to those cat owners who are unable to afford medical treatment. Safe Haven 4 Cats SC is dependent entirely on the public’s generosity through donations. Fundraising efforts and events are initiated with the sole purpose of providing a better quality of life for all cats. What We Do:
Volunteers educate the public to encourage the spaying/neutering of cats in order to reduce the senseless number of cats and kittens euthanized daily. We provide a low cost spay/neuter program for anyone needing assistance in getting feral or friendly cats spayed/neutered. Spay/neutering, Rabies vaccination, worming and flea treatment for $45 for male & $55 for females. Testing for FELV/FIV & FVRCP Vaccinations are provided at a low additional cost and is recommended, but not required. It is recommended that Feral cats are ear-tipped for identification purposes and returned to their colony and is included in cost of spay/neuter, there is no additional cost. Cats that are suitable for adoption are tested for feline leukemia (FELV) and feline aids (FIV), wormed, provided flea treatment, spayed/neutered, receive distemper vaccinations, etc., to assure that they are healthy and sociable. If you need help in trapping a feral cat, we can lend you traps and some assistance in trapping. Foster homes are provided for friendly, domesticated cats and kittens until a permanent honey is found. Volunteers trap and transport feral/free roaming cats to one of our low cost spay/neuter clinics where they are sterilized and given their rabies vaccinations. Feral cats are ear-tipped for identification purposes and returned to their colony. Additional medical care is rendered as needed. Feral colonies are monitored daily by volunteers and provided with fresh food and water so that they remain healthy. Feral kittens are fostered and nurtured in a loving home in order to acclimate them for adoption. Cats that are in a dangerous or abused and neglected situation are relocated to a safe environment after receiving preventative veterinary care. Our Goals:
Safe Haven 4 Cats SC is relentless in protecting the feline population in the Horry County area. Dedicated to reducing the number of unwanted cats and kittens through adoptions, we aim to provide a safe and secure sanctuary where homeless and unadoptable cats will be able to live out their remaining years in a safe and sheltered environment. With continued growth in our membership and volunteer network, we are certain that we can make a positive difference in the lives of cats and kittens throughout our area. I am Virginia Talley one of the executive officers of Safe Haven 4 Cats SC.
